In 2021 I decided to do something I have wanted to do for a long time – go back to school to get a Master\u2019s Degree. I applied and got accepted into the Master\u2019s of Arts in Climate Action Leadership (MACAL) Program at Royal Roads University. I am now in my fourth course, and what an adventure it has been! From Design Thinking to climate science, communications, and risk management – each course offers new insights and challenges,\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

My family is originally from England, Ireland, and Scotland moving first to Newfoundland, then Ontario, and then I made my way to BC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Place is important to me. There are places where I have lived and then there are the places I call home. I arrived in Sointula 24 years ago and my heart told me I was home. Kind of like living in the wild but with indoor plumbing, community, and good coffee. Even now, after all these years, the smell of the ocean moves me in ways that can only be explained through art because, well, no words are good enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have been working as an environmentalists for about 30 years \u2013 first on oceans and then as a climate activist.  I have two children although I am hesitant to call them that as they will be 21 this year. I also have a cat named Trouble. My partner Art and I enjoy exploring the coast on our boat and in the winter I find solace on skis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
