Course Archiving
We have learned through painful experience that we need to periodically reduce the number of courses on Moodle or performance starts to degrade exponentially, and we cannot guarantee the integrity of our data backups. In support of this requirement, and to keep the number of live courses manageable, a “Course Archive” process was approved prior to 2012.
To date, we have been archiving every three years. Archiving will be occurring in conjunction with the upgrade to Moodle 3.2 in June. In practical terms this means that:
- Courses with an end date > 90 days from the upgrade date in June will not be available on the “Current Credit Courses” server moodle.royalroads.ca
- Courses with an end date < three years ago will be will be available on the “Courses Archives” server moodlearchive.royalroads.ca
- Courses with an end date > three years ago are deleted
