About Me

This student blog is a requirement of the Graduate Certificate in Climate Action Leadership program and will help me to reflect on what I am learning and to share with you the knowledge that I am acquiring throughout the program. This will also be a respectful and safe place to share your concerns, opinions, and knowledge with me and the program. Together we can educate others and inform the program to inspire climate action – Better Together!

Charlene Kippenhuck was raised in Charlottetown, Labrador. She is an Inuit who is an avid hunter, fisher, and outdoorswoman. She currently holds the position of Natural Resources Manager with NunatuKavut Community Council.

As the manager of the Environment and Natural Resources department at NCC, Charlene is involved in (as project lead or co-investigator) and oversees a vast variety of research projects involving environmental and wildlife monitoring, sustainability and climate change awareness and education. She also sits on the Research Advisory Committee for her expertise and knowledge on the environmental priorities of NunatuKavut Inuit to assess that research meets the priorities, goals, and standards of NCC.

She has over a decade of experience administering aspects of land and resource management programs in the Northwest Territories and Newfoundland and Labrador, particularly in program administration and financial management. She has a rich history in public service having held various positions. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, and a Certificate in Criminology from Memorial University.
