Assignment 4, Remix #2
For this remix I decided to develop a podcast for people who are interested in climate policy but might not know much about this issue, as with Remix 1, but to use a podcast format and website.. My goal was to use the question and answer format to reveal the details of the challenges with carbon capture and storage to people who prefer to learn from listening as opposed to reading. The website also set the tone with images and a clear purpose. I included a transcript to increase accessibility.
The podcast is called Back to Nature – Climate Action Explained. My friend Oonagh O’Connor served as the host. I then used Microsoft Office 365 to create transcripts of the podcast to increase accessibility.
With the exception of the 2021 World Energy Outlook report published by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the 2021 Oil Sands Pathways to Net Zero Initiative, I did not directly cite other sources. However I did include, beneath the transcript on the website, links to many of the resources I used in the research for this work.
The link to the Back to Nature website, podcast, transcripts, and references can be found here. I used a free website service so sometimes it takes a minute for the podcast link to load.
If I had more time, I would have redone this podcast. There is a big difference between writing something and talking about it and I think it shows in this podcast. Next time I would find the “sound bite” for each question, the hook that grabs the readers attention and makes creates the context for the rest of the answer. But we had already done this three times and my friend had donated enough of her time.
