About Kerra

I enrolled in the MACAL program because I am passionate about the need to act on the climate crisis. What I love about the program is its transdisciplinary approach to climate adaptation. I have already learned so much, even in my first year of the program and find myself thinking about climate change in a whole new way. Not only are we learning how to lead transformative change, we are transforming as individuals.

I am currently working as the Manager, Environment at the City of Leduc, Alberta: a growing city of over 34,000 residents situated near the Edmonton International Airport. Since 2010, I have worked to develop and implement the City’s Environmental Plan, addressing waste, water, land use, air, light, energy and climate change. Previously, I worked for 10 years at the Clean Air Strategic Alliance developing strategies to address air issues in a consensus forum. I have a degree from the University of Alberta in Environmental Physical Sciences, which included an internship at the Alberta Government’s Department of Environment.

I have contemplated taking a Masters degree for many years, only now having made it my priority. My two sons are 18 and 15 and live with me half time. I enjoy travelling and have been fortunate enough to see many parts of the world including Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

I hope my blog takes you along my journey of transformation. I invite you to consider a similar journey.
