The Virtual Learning Lodge (VLL) was a project, supported by a $100,000 grant from the Ministry of Advanced Education, to create a place for community that would support first nations students undertaking blended or distance learning at the University of Victoria. I served on the advisory committee for the VLL during this project and provided instructional design and technology advise and support. I created the prototype VLL site and supported many initial synchronous events.
A high point of the project was the independent development of a North Island community established with a Ning site. While the VLL was in its realy stages of development several communities set up their own community site, mirroring many of the features of the VLL.
More to come.
