ABOUT ME

Let’s keep things simple.

Born and raised in Mexico City, I moved to Canada at the ripe age of 13 with not a lick of English in my vocabulary. Not understanding a word anybody said to me for a full year made me develop a deep appreciation for simple words, simple language, and simple stuff. The climate crisis, however, is anything but simple, and talking about it is not easy. That is exactly what I want to change.

The whole deal of this blog is to talk about climate change in a way that is simple and makes you feel comfortable talking about it with friends, family, co-workers, or whoever. I believe the most powerful asset we have in our toolbox is our attention, so if people like you and I talked about climate change at least twice as much as we do now, we’d have a pretty good shot at solving this thing.

By the way, my name is Patricio Gonzalez-Marquez, but you can just call me Pato. I am a climate nerd, dog dad, graduate student, couch potato, beer enthusiast, and a serious advocate for plastic-free shenanigans. By this point you may be wondering, ‘what makes this Pato guy qualified to talk to me about climate change?’, and the short answer to that is: nothing. I am by no means an expert in this topic, or any topic for that matter, but I am someone who has spent far too much for an education. This blog is a requirement of that education, and to get the most out of it, I hope to make this blog an open space where I can share with you what I learn.
