I believe many people are motivated to do their part in addressing the intersecting climate, biodiversity and inequity crises. That said, they lack the knowledge, skills and confidence to contribute and this holds them back from taking part. As a graduate student in climate action leadership and a climate activist, I am creating this space in the hopes of increasing others’ capacity to be engaged in this work. Through these pages, I’d like to share some of the many resources and pieces of knowledge that have inspired, informed and empowered me so far on my learning journey, both in and out of school.
Some of what you can expect to find here:
- Resources to help understand climate science and instructions for how to find reliable information
- Tools and resources that have helped me to understand my own privilege and positionality, as well as to work on uncovering my unconscious biases and dismantling my harmful behaviours
- Resources to understand the power of civic engagement, collective action, communication and collective leadership in the context of climate action, as well as tools to help you develop in those areas and work with others to expand our impact
- Inspiring content that has helped me find peace and hope in this work, as well as to learn about more just and respectful ways of being with our human and more-than-human relations.
This learning journey that I’m on is lifelong; I don’t claim to have all the answers and I am constantly humbled by the wisdom of others, especially people whose life experiences are different from my own. While I don’t expect the information I’m sharing here will be useful to everyone and while I acknowledge the limitations and bias of my worldview as a privileged white middle class settler in the global north, I hope what I’m sharing will be helpful to some of you for driving action in whichever ways are most relevant to you.
