World Café is an informal method of collecting data from multiple groups of people. It is similar to a focus group, but aimed at generating stakeholder engagement specifically.

Strengths:
  • Considered an effective method to engage stakeholders.
  • Structured to generate conversation.
  • Question design is paramount.
Challenges:
  • Data may be difficult to transcribe.
  • Data may be time consuming to analyze.

Tips from the Professor: Because World Café is specifically designed for stakeholder engagement it is a great method for government engagement sessions. While data generated can be difficult to transcribe and analyze – don’t let that scare you away!
